Be part of the future of Toronto's Culture

Our membership supports the work of The Women's Art Association of Canada to raise the funds for our 12 scholarships. We are tied together by this common purpose and enjoy the camaraderie in this special place.

In addition to planning and staging fund raising events, members also meet 10 times per year for a series of Speakers Luncheons with lectures on various cultural endeavours.

"My introduction to WAAC: When I received my first invitation to a Women's Art lunch I was told not to be taken aback by the singing of "God Save the Queen". After being forewarned, I was prepared. While we were in the midst of honouring the Queen, I heard someone behind me singing "God Save the King". Initially, I thought that I was mistaken. It was quite distinct; one of the women was clearly paying homage to the King. I was itching to turn around and catch a glimpse of the unwavering soul. I remember thinking how pleased I was to be invited and I knew that I simply had to become a member."

"Over these many years at the Women`s Art Association, the camaraderie, fun and sense of common purpose stands out above all else. The great ambience created when all these people are gathered to work toward a common goal is almost palpable. We are young and old with various talents - or lack thereof - and we are all committed to ensuring our scholarships can continue for our many arts students. It is very fulfilling to be able to make a real contribution to such a deserving cause."

"The atmosphere is convivial.
The enthusiasm is infectious.
The energy is intense."

"For me, living in Toronto is being involved in the cultural happenings and the WAAC is such a central point both geographically and emotionally. The house is in the centre of the Bloor/Yorkville area and the activities of members are so encompassing for anyone in the arts. Each member supports another in what ever activity...fundraising, musicales, art projects such as the one-of-a-kind painted aprons or hand-painted watering cans. The annual June Garden Party is a highlight and members become close friends along the pathway of keeping our treasured house alive and in good shape for future women."
